American Cruise Lines celebrated the christening of two new sister ships on May 3, the American Serenade on the Mississippi River and the American Jazz on the Snake River in Washington.

The two ships are the newest members of the cruise line’s fleet of six American Riverboats.

The American Serenade was christened by Honorable Julia Letlow, U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s fifth congressional district in Vidalia, Louisiana. The American Jazz was christened by Stacia L. Morfin, CEO of Nez Perce Tourism and a citizen of the Nimíipuu Nation in Clarkston, Washington.

Both ships welcome just 180 guests, with some of the largest staterooms onboard a river boat. They both feature the line’s signature four-story glass atrium, multiple dining options and lounges, comfortable sundecks and lecture rooms.

American Cruise Lines currently has four ships currently under construction, with two debuting later this year. All of its American Riverboats, including the two that were just christened, were built at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland.

“The two christenings, one in a desert canyon and one on the bayou, show the incredible breadth of river cruise options in the USA,” said Charles B. Robertson, President & CEO, American Cruise Lines. “They also show the growth of American Cruise Lines and the range of places that we explore. We are so grateful to the communities who welcome us and look forward to a strong future together as we cruise the Snake and Mississippi Rivers.”
