If you are searching for a beach paradise that also has spectacular natural landscapes to explore, then look no further than the US Virgin Islands.

These islands each offer the opportunity for an unforgettable holiday that is perfect for families, couples, groups, and solo travelers.

Travel The Heritage Trail

If you want to go beyond the beaches and explore the history and culture of St. Croix, there is no better way to do so than by following the Heritage Trail.

The trail follows through historical sights, notable architecture, natural landscapes, and more. It is self-guided, so all you will need is a car and the map, which can be accessed online.

Some of our favorite sites along the way include Fort Frederik, St. John's Anglican Church, Cruzan Rum Distillery, and Annaly Bay.

Visit Blackbeard's Castle

If you have any interest in legendary pirates, then you cannot skip a visit to Blackbeard's Castle.

Located atop a hill in Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas Island, it was built in 1679 to serve as protection for the fort and harbor.

The name stems from a legend on the island that said that the famous pirate, Blackbeard (who was known to have spent time on the ocean around the Caribbean back in his day), used it to look out for threats and opportunities.

Explore Virgin Islands National Park

Making up a sizable two-thirds of St. John Island, the Virgin Islands National Park is a haven for those who enjoy immersing themselves in nature.

The area has a whole lot to offer: coral reef diving sites, beaches, boating, hiking trails, wildlife, saline, sugar plantations, and more.

We recommend setting aside at least three days to explore a big chunk of it, as once you are there, you won’t want to leave!

Enjoy Coral World Ocean Park

If you are traveling with young kids, or you prefer not to partake in water activities, it doesn’t mean that you should miss out on seeing the incredible sea life on offer.

At the Coral World Ocean Park in St. Thomas, you can interact with dolphins, get up close to sea lions, see sharks, and much, much more. The park prioritizes animal welfare and conservation, so it is also a guilt-free visit.

Relax At Trunk Bay

Often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, you cannot visit the US Virgin Islands without going to Trunk Bay.

The pearly white sand stretches along the coast of the island and the turquoise-blue water make it one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever seen.

There are fantastic sites to enjoy snorkeling, or you can just relax on the beach. We suggest setting aside a minimum of one day to enjoy this pristine spot.

Soak In The Carambola Tide Pools

Adventure seekers will get a kick out of the Carambola Tide Pools, especially since there is a small trek to get to it.

Located on St. Croix Island, you need to walk both on and off the beaten path to discover these picturesque pools. The pools are shallow and clear, making them a fantastic spot to soak in and relax.

Because it is quite a journey to get there, we suggest packing sufficient food and beverages, as well as any other essentials, as it is not very easy to find facilities while there.

Dive Into Buck Island Reef

Just off the coast of St. Croix is Buck Island - a small piece of land that is surrounded by the protected Buck Island Reef National Monument.

The reef is renowned for being one of the most unique and extraordinary in the world, making this a bucket list item for those who enjoy diving and snorkeling.

The species found here are diverse, and many are endangered, so you will see marine life unlike anywhere else.

Sail Through the US Virgin Islands

For an amazing array of islands, each with pristine beaches, remarkable nature, and rich history, the US Virgin Islands have something for everyone.

Whether you visit one or hop on a few, you are guaranteed a peaceful vacation filled with wonder and discovery.
