JetBlue will expand its Barbados service this fall, launching a second weekly flight from Boston Logan International Airport to Grantley Adams International Airport beginning November 1.

JetBlue’s new Wednesday departures will join the airline’s existing Saturday Boston-Barbados flights.

“We are happy to see our overall growth strategy for the New England area has been paying off, as indicated by the addition of this brand-new midweek fight out of Boston,” said Eusi Skeete, U.S. director at Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI).

“This increase in capacity is by no means a small feat, which is indicative both of the effectiveness of our efforts as well as JetBlue’s commitment to Barbados,” Skeete said.

JetBlue also recently expanded its Barbados service from New York, extending its second daily John F. Kennedy International (JFK) departure from September through to February 2024. The flights were originally scheduled to end in September.

“We are excited about the prospect of the continued double daily departures from JFK,” said Skeete. “This increased capacity has the potential to add significant capacity out of the Tri-State area in what promises the busy winter season.”

The additional daily JFK flight is timed to enable travelers to book flights for Barbados’ annual summer Crop Over festival, said BTMI officials.

At the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Caribbean Week conference this past week, Ian Gooding-Edgehill, Barbados’ minister of tourism, said the country’s expanded slate of JetBlue and United flights “have all contributed to increased numbers in terms of arrivals.”

“We are confident we will get back to our 2019 [visitor] levels and exceed them,” Gooding-Edgehill said.
