A new theme park that prominently features today’s it girl, Barbie, is under construction.
In fact, the first-ever theme park by toymaker Mattel will feature all of its biggest properties, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Thomas And Friends and Masters of the Universe.
The theme part is being built in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix.
Though the park was announced a year ago, now Barbie has become the hottest movie of the summer.
“From rides and attractions that appeal to the tiniest of tots, to a double-looping launch coaster designed for speed, to a flying theater adventure that shoots for the stars – Mattel Adventure Park is built to delight guests of all ages,” the park’s website says.
The park will even take into account the notorious heat in Phoenix, which has been more than 100 degrees for nearly a month straight.
The park will be indoor and outdoor where guests can try cooling off in the Barbie Beach House.
“Our unique indoor/outdoor design keeps your family cool and comfortable on even the hottest Arizona day with acres of air-conditioned space for your enjoyment,” according to the website.
The nine-acre park will even allow you to dress like Barbie with the Dream Closet Experience. And after you find the right outfit, sip on a pink cocktail at the rooftop of the Barbie Dream House.
“Mattel Adventure Park will be even more engaging and entertaining at launch, with the addition of these iconic Mattel brand experiences,” said Julie Freeland, Senior Director, Global Location Based Entertainment, Mattel. “The expansion of this flagship attraction brings together the largest representation of Mattel’s beloved brands in a live space as never before.”
Of course, the city of Glendale is no stranger to big events. It has hosted the Super Bowl and college football playoff games.
And for the rest of you, nostalgics out there, yes, there will be Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.
