Travelers can blend the the unique natural Icelandic landscapes with amazing Danish gastronomy, architecture and culture. The new campaign from Icelandair and VisitDenmark highlights how easy Icelandair makes combining the country with destinations in Denmark easy. The airline, VisitDenmark and 50 Degrees North collaborated to create an intriguing six-day itinerary in the two countries. These two destinations offer a wealth of opportunities for travelers.

Europe’s Coziest Capital

Denmark is known for its "hygge" culture, which roughly translated, means cozy. Serving as Northern Europe's coziest capital, Copenhagen is packed with cafés, shops and some of the best restaurants in Scandinavia.

50 Degrees North's itinerary incorporates all of Copenhagen's must-see attractions. Visitors have the chance to see the city's most popular spot, Tivoli Gardens. The amusement park draws in more than 4 million people each year and for a reason—the atmosphere. It's wild rides, the restaurants and the concerts are second to none and it's open during popular holidays, including Halloween, Christmas and New Year's.

Nyhavn is a compulsory spot for visitors to Copenhagen. It is a former hub of ship merchants, which is how the city got its name. Now, the area is a popular spot for outdoor dining, people-watching and, at Christmas, a cozy Christmas market.

Visitors will want to check out Amalienborg, the queens palace; Strøget, Copenhagen's shopping street; the Round Tower, a 17th-century observatory; and the colorful and controversial area of Christiania among other sights while visiting the city

This year in particular, Copenhagen is a hot spot for architecture. The city was named the UNESCO World Capital of Architecture 2023. The city's DAC (Danish Architecture Center) is the heart of this event and a great place to visit with guided city tours available.

Copenhagen has an amazing gastronomy scene and is even home to the Best Restaurant in the World 2022—Geranium. It is located on the 8th floor above Denmark’s national soccer stadium Parken, and offers sweeping views over Fælledparken and creations from head-chef and co-owner, Rasmus Kofoed. However, the heart of Copenhagen's food scene is Refshaleøen, one of the city's hippest areas and a hub of creativity as well as culinary culture. Visitors to Copenhagen can explore the city's gastronomy with food tours from Foods of Copenhagen.

Those who want to get outside the city can enjoy a variety of day trips. These include a discovery of the coast of North Zealand and the town of Helsingør where visitors can follow in the footsteps of Hamlet at the Kronborg Castle. Travelers can head to the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, Odense, and the new Hans Christian Andersen Hus museum just an hour from Copenhagen. Frederiksborg Castle is a lavish sight often called the Nordic Versailles. Another highlight not far from the city is Roskilde Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Elsewhere, the Viking Ship Museum showcases more than 1,000 years of history.

The itinerary with 50 Degrees North includes a guided city tour of Copenhagen, a canalboat tour with Hey Captain and a culinary Biking tour with Foods of Copenhagen.

Icelandic Wonders

Iceland's natural landscapes and its glaciers, volcanos, geysers and northern lights are an intrigue to travelers around the globe. Visitors come to experience its geothermic delights, its unique culture and to marvel over amazing places such as the Blue Lagoon, the Gullfoss Waterfall and Þingvellir National Park. The country is somewhere where visitors can be wild and free and escape the ordinary.

There is much to choose from when crafting an Iceland itinerary. Travelers can build around a weekend getaway in the country's capital, Reykjavik, or explore Iceland's three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visitors can celebrate the midnight sun in summer or stay up late awaiting the aurora borealis in the darker, winter months.

Travelers who are heading to Iceland on 50 Degrees North's special tour visit the geothermal spa on the Reykjanes Peninsula, the Blue Lagoon, and explore the famous Golden Circle.
