Belize is a small, Central American country with loads to offer. Aside from unparalleled and diverse natural beauty, the country has a rich history and culture. From visiting Mayan ruins to touring untouched ancient caves, you’re in for a treat. So, if you’re planning a trip to Belize, there is a list of things we would recommend you do.

Scuba Diving In The Blue Hole

If you’re an avid diver, then Belize should be on your bucket list. The Great Blue Hole has been ranked as one of the “10 Most Amazing Places on Earth”, with incredible marine biodiversity in the reef.

The Blue Hole is an underwater sinkhole where you’ll be able to explore the diverse ecosystem that calls this place home.

Exploring Ancient Mayan Ruins

Belize was, at one point, the center of the Mayan empire, an ancient civilization that once lived in Central America. Today, there are many ruins all over the country that one can visit.

Some of these ruins are more accessible to tourists, like the Altun Ha, while there are some that are in more remote areas of the country, like Caracol.

Birdwatching At Its Best

If you’re a keen birdwatcher, you’ll be happy to know that there are over 500 bird species in Belize. One of the best places we recommend you visit for amazing bird sightings would be in and around San Ignacio.

You may even be able to book yourself a stay at the Black Rock Lodge in the region. A stay in the jungle while sighting exotic birds - we think that’s a winner!

Explore Caves

Belize is known to have some of the best caves to explore. If you’re looking for the ultimate guided cave tour, then a visit to Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave is a must.

You’ll not only get to see incredible stalactites and stalagmites, but you’ll also learn about ancient Mayan culture.

Relax On A Beach

Placencia, a mainland peninsula, is a great place to see if you’re interested in seeing manatees, dolphins, or manta rays. Or simply to enjoy a cocktail on the beach.
