For those looking to immerse themselves in nature, Arikok National Park is a must-visit when on the island of Aruba.
It makes up almost one-fifth of the entire island, and visitors can explore the sprawling hills, rare plant species, historic caves, and stunning shoreline. Our favorite part is the natural pool, which is a calm area for swimming that is protected from rough seas by the rocks around it.
Dive To Pedernales Wreck
Built in 1938 as a WWII tanker and destroyed in 1942 during a torpedo attack, the SS Pedernales is now a famous wreck just off of Palm Beach.
Diving enthusiasts will enjoy exploring this old wreck, and even beginners can partake as it is just 10 meters deep.
Admire Oranjestad
The capital city of Oranjestad is a hub of activity, culture, and history in Aruba.
We recommend spending at least 2-3 days in the city to experience Aruban culture at its finest. Enjoy the food and nightlife, view the historic landmarks, and admire the immaculate Dutch colonial architecture throughout.
Visit The Butterfly Farm
For a magical experience with nature, the Butterfly Farm is a must-see just around the corner from Palm Beach.
This is a delight, especially if you have young kids, as you are immersed in a setting filled to the brim with beautiful butterflies.
We suggest going towards the beginning of the trip, as your ticket is then valid for the duration of your stay in Aruba, so you can go back as many times as you would like.
Soak On Baby Beach
In the San Nicholas region is the wonderful Baby Beach, which we think is the perfect place for a day by the water.
The beach is named so because of the low waters, which vary between knee- and waist-level. We find this to be the perfect spot for families with young kids, as they can splash about without the concern for safety in the water.
Enjoy The Donkey Sanctuary
Not far from Arikok National Park is the Donkey Sanctuary, where you can visit the charming wild donkeys that have been rescued from abuse and injury.
This is another top spot if you are traveling with kids, or if you are just an animal lover yourself. You can interact with the adorable animals by petting them, and even feeding them around mealtimes.
View The California Lighthouse
On the northwest of Aruba lies the California Lighthouse, a wonderful point to view the stunning Aruba landscape.
You can climb up to the top to take in the panoramic views, with just a $5 entrance fee. We suggest going in the latter part of the day, as the sunset is something you do not want to miss.
Visit Alto Vista Chapel
Perched on the hills in the town of Noord, Alto Vista Chapel is a peaceful sanctuary that is worth a visit if you are in the area.
The small yellow chapel was built in 1750, and it is set with the exquisite backdrop of the countryside and the ocean.
