Full of culture and some of the world’s most diverse wildlife, an African vacation offers more than meets the eye.
The African continent is the world’s second-largest and second-most-populous continent. Many of the world’s most significant ancient historical sites are found here. And despite being the hottest continent in general, Africa boasts vastly differing climates and climatic zones.
As you’ll discover in this Africa travel guide, it truly is a wide and wonderful world in one continent.

With so much to offer, you’ll find a new adventure around each corner. These are our top 3 African highlights:
Some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world can be found here. Everything from desert sands to lush forests, and towering mountain ranges to savannahs make up the landscapes that are Africa.

Giraffes, the African elephant, the African wild dog, the African civet, and the Galago monkeys are just a few of the animals found in Africa and nowhere else. Of course, wolves, lions, and hyenas are common here too.
With fantastic opportunities throughout the continent to see wildlife in their natural habitat, an African safari is a highlight of any trip to this continent.
Africa is a feast for the senses. The smells, sights, and sounds of nature are rivaled only by the tastes of traditional cuisines. Exotic herbs and spices lend a colorful twist to the native dish of every region. Feel free to indulge, without fear of picking up the pounds.
Traditional African meals are generally organic and therefore quite healthy too, devoid of the additives and refined sugars so prevalent in the West. We also found that meat with vegetables, aromatic spices, and couscous features prominently.
Every continent has its special landmarks, but here in the birthplace of mankind, you’ll find the most iconic of them all.
The magnificent pyramids, the vast and imposing statue known as The Great Sphinx of Giza, and even ancient Roman ruins call Africa their home. These sands feature historical landmarks of many great civilizations.

For the very best in natural scenery, historical landmarks, and cultural enlightenment, don’t give these African countries a miss.
Morocco is home to the UNESCO-listed ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis dating back to the first century BC. Only one of Morocco’s many historical sites of interest is remarkably well preserved.
And what’s a vacation without a little shopping? Our favorite outdoor market has to be the world-famous Djemaa el-Fna Square. Here you can buy gift souvenirs, artisanal goods, spices, Berber rugs, and everything in between.
Every trip to Egypt is only complete with an excursion to see the Sphinx and the pyramids of Giza. Built 4500 years ago, their construction is still shrouded in mystery, to this day. They are not only Egypt’s greatest treasures but are loved by the entire world.
One of the highlights for us was the Nile River Cruise. We recommend stopping for some sightseeing at the Karnak temple complex on the river’s east banks. And exploring the renowned Temple Of Luxor is a must for your Egypt travel itinerary.
