Asia is the largest continent in the world and covers almost a third of Earth’s surface. The name Asia has Greek origins, meaning ‘sunrise’.

This landmass of 48 countries has much to offer the discerning tourist. Whether you are a history buff, a thrill seeker, or just love getting out in nature, you’ll find something to appeal to your senses.

Walk The Great Wall Of China

Completed in 220 BC, the Great Wall of China has become the country’s biggest tourist attraction. It stretches from Shanhaiguan in Hebei Province to Jiayuguan in Gansu Province. One of the 7 Wonders of the world, this is one for your Asian travel bucket list.

If you want to walk along the Great Wall, Badaling and Juyong Pass are two of several sections that allow you to do this. These access points are kept in good condition.

See The Tian Tan Buddha Monument In Hong Kong

One of the largest seated Buddha statues in the world, this huge bronze statue sits on a 3-story platform. This monument took 12 years to build and symbolizes the union of nature and mankind. It is situated on Lantau Island on Muyu Peak.

To get to the statue, you’ll have to climb 268 steps. But we can assure you, the effort is well worth it. We were rewarded with spectacular views of the forest below and the nearby Po Lin Monastery.

Experience A Traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony

A traditional tea ceremony in Japan involves the art of time, the process of preparing and presenting matcha green tea.

Most popular tourist hubs such as Tokyo and Kyoto, offer tourists the opportunity to participate in tea ceremonies. You’ll don a traditional Japanese garment, a Kimono, to further enhance the Japanese cultural experience. A formal tea ceremony can take up to 4 hours.

We timed our visit with the Japanese cherry blossom season and were in awe of the explosion of white and pink flowers known as Sakura blossoms.

Tour The Vietnam Cu Chi Tunnel

Located on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll find the Cu Chi Tunnel. It was built for military use and now serves as a wartime museum. Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers hid here from French colonists during the 1945-1954 war between the two factions.

This 155-mile network of tunnels is a major tourist attraction. Today, this underground tunnel tour can be accessed by bus, motorbike, or car. Once at the entrance, free guides are supplied with your admission ticket.

Ride In A Sampan Boat In Singapore

A sampan boat is a traditional Asian wooden boat that is small and flat-bottomed, with curved ends.

A trip to the Marina Bay Sands will allow you to ride on one of these vessels on the canals, with your very own skipper navigating the waterfront. This boat ride will circle the Rain Oculus, a large acrylic and stainless steel water feature in the Promenade. This rain collector has evolved into a local wishing fountain, so don’t forget to toss a coin in as you pass by!

The trip is only 10 minutes long, but if your wish comes true, it’ll make it even more special.

Hike The Campuhan Ridge Walk In Indonesia

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is the top hiking destination in Indonesia. We found that the best time to explore this area in the town of Ubud is early in the morning or late afternoon. It’s a lot cooler than what is more comfortable for hiking.

We particularly enjoyed this 2.4-mile walk, because of the abundance of beautiful forest scenery. The walk can be quite hilly but is suitable for beginners.

Visit The Forbidden City Of China

The world’s largest imperial palace, this magnificent structure took a labor force of about a million workers and 14 years to complete. Completed in 1420, the palace is now a top tourist attraction.

This structure served as a palace until 1912 and housed 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. As the only well-preserved remnant of Chinese Imperial architecture, we think it’s a must-see piece of history!
