The state of New York has so many activities to offer, so we’ve curated this list of 8 fun things to do in New York for you. There are some non-negotiables when visiting New York. We’re talking bucket list items, like visiting the Statue Of Liberty and seeing her with your own eyes.

We’ve included these, along with some less popular but super fun options. Exploring the state of New York is always a highlight for us thanks to the never-ending adventure it provides!

Niagara Falls

Nature really shows off at Niagara Falls, and the American side of this attraction lies in New York!

You can get up close to the Bridal Veil section of the Falls while visiting the oldest state park in the country.

Cornell Botanical Gardens

The Cornell Botanical Gardens is a living museum on the grounds of Cornell University. It consists of a botanic garden and arboretum, giving you the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some nature.

The gardens are exquisite. Our favorite section is the F.R. Newton Arboretum, which contains collections of oaks, maples, conifers, nut trees, and so much more.

Statue Of Liberty

An obvious one! The Statue of Liberty is a must-see if you haven’t witnessed her beauty up close before.

The statue has been looking over New York harbor for over a hundred years and is one of the best-known monuments in the world. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to climb the staircase to her crown.

Temple Emanu-El

The Temple Emanu-El is an attraction on Fifth Avenue in New York City. It’s a must-see if you’re into architecture, history, and Judaism.

It started as a loft where Jewish immigrants would meet over 175 years ago, and this group later saved up to build one of the most spectacular synagogues in the United States.

Lake Placid

Lake Placid is famous for hosting the Winter Olympics and its winter activities but is also a beautiful place to visit during the warmer months. There are lots of restaurants and boutique stores to stop by and of course some water activities to enjoy on the lake.

You can also find the Olympic Ski Jump Complex in Lake Placid. The Complex is used for competitive training and allows visitors to watch the daring athletes while they train.

Watch A Musical On Broadway

Broadway is the theater district in New York, famous for its musical spectacles and home to some of the biggest stars.

Its history dates back all the way to 1866, but it really gained popularity in the 1950s with musicals such as West Side Story and Fiddler On The Roof.

Visit The Hamptons

The Hamptons is a gorgeous, beachy area. It’s a great holiday or long-weekend destination. Spend your time here surfing, going for long walks on the beach, and dining at some incredible restaurants.

We highly recommend booking a relaxing night or two in Montauk if you’re traveling during the summer months. All kinds of events happen during this time including festivals and markets.

Metropolitan Museum Of Art

Are you a fan of the Met Gala? Well, this is where it's held! The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is the largest art museum in America, containing over 2 million pieces of art as part of its permanent collection.

The collections span over 5000 years of history, and there are representations of every corner of the globe. If you’re an art lover, the Met is a must-see!

Letchworth State Park

For outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, we recommend checking out Letchworth State Park. This beautiful expanse of land is the perfect spot for camping and has three stunning waterfalls to see.

There are 66 miles of trails to explore so get your hiking boots on and enjoy some time traipsing through this scenic area.

Start Your New York Adventure!

Whether you’re looking for a quiet stroll or a shopping spree, the state of New York has something for you. It’s filled with artistic beings who have made it one of the most beautiful states in America, and we know you’ll find an adventure that lights your fire.
