St. Kitts and Nevis Travel Guide

St. Kitts and Nevis is a microstate with massive appeal. Located in the Caribbean ocean, these islands are home to some of the most breathtaking views we’ve ever seen.

With tropical waters, diverse fauna and flora, and colorful and quaint towns, it’s become one of our favorite travel destinations.

But to have a great time, it’s important to know more about this must-see holiday hot spot. Use our St. Kitts and Nevis travel guide to learn more about this tropical haven and make the most of your time.

There were many ways to travel around St. Kitts and Nevis.

  • Minibus: Independent minibusses are the cheapest way to travel and the most colorful. The only issue we noticed was that the minibusses don’t stop at tourist destinations. They’re mostly used for locals to travel to local places.
  • Car: You can rent a car to traverse St. Kitts and Nevis. Some companies allow you to transfer your rental when going to another island. While this is probably the most flexible option, it can be expensive.
  • Ferry: Ferries work great when traveling between the islands. They’re inexpensive and have routes between the biggest tourist destinations. This was the best option for island hopping.
  • Taxi: For us, the best way to get around was by taxi. It’s affordable and drivers are super friendly and knowledgeable about the local history. Taking a taxi is also a very flexible travel option because you’ll find them at every destination. Fees are also regulated by the government, so you’ll be paying a fair and consistent price.

Climate And Weather

Like other Caribbean islands, St. Kitts and Nevis don't experience extreme winter and summer weather changes. The weather is moderate to warm most of the year, with little variation between the seasons.

However, oceanic influence and marine environments have a big effect on humidity.

The rainy season is from July to December and the dry season is from January to April. During the wet season, St. Kitts and Nevis can see up to 250 mm of precipitation per month. The mountainous regions receive more rain than the coastal regions.

It’s also important to note that the hurricane season is from June to November.

The best time to visit is the dry season from February to April. For us, the weather was great and there were no showers to disrupt our fun.

If you want to avoid crowds, don’t visit during the December to April travel season. However, even with the crowds, we think this time of year is a great time to travel here.

Rain showers tend to be over quickly so you don’t need to avoid the wet season, but be careful when visiting during the hurricane season.
